Web Based Development
IAS developed several web-based applications for US Wireless Corporation. These web database applications provide effective management tools, by promoting greater control of corporate assets, information, and expenditures in a real time mode. Moreover, IAS designed a specific web-based application that allows the corporate headquarters to remotely access, review, and provide annotations to database entries made by regional offices.
Several web-based applications were developed for US Wireless that completely automated key tasks, saving countless man-hours. Foremost of these was the RadioCameraTM Application, which automatically collected and error checked mission critical data files from the entire RadioCameraTM network and decreased the manual process from over 8 hours to less than 1 hour. Additional applications included the tracking of:
- Telco ordering requests from inception to conclusion
- Assets pertaining to site population (with email notifications of warranty renewals and critical reorder points)
- Correspondence and trouble ticket trends
- Timesheet and Expense management (in addition to several HR administrative functions)
- IT help request automation
In addition to the above applications, IAS also created several workgroup collaboration applications such as:
- Electronic Filing Cabinets, which stored and managed reference documents for use by workgroups.
- Discussion Forum Applications, that stored ideas and suggestions for later use by discussion/workgroups.
Network Design, Implementation and Maintenance
US Wireless required a unique and innovative network solution for acquiring, routing, and storing information on a twenty-four (24) hour, seven (7) day a week basis. Through the implementation of an engineering plan developed by IAS, US Wireless was able to transfer critical data from Virginia to California in real time mode. This vital service enabled US Wireless to conduct client demonstrations in two corporate locations simultaneously. IAS established and increased the LAN/WAN capability of US Wireless that will support additional sites without a significant increase in maintenance costs. IAS also maintains the US Wireless network within this demanding environment.
IAS developed a network design that incorporated many key elements for rapid deployment and ease of manageability. Due to the nature of the project, sites were acquisitioned promptly, and often within days of each other. IAS was able to establish network connectivity quickly and reliably by working closely with local carriers to provision frame-relay circuits. This wireless network connected twenty-five buildings throughout Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia. IAS personnel implemented installation and design end-to-end, from circuit provisioning, wireless installation, to router deployment and optimization for all WAN remote sites. As a result of the outstanding relationship developed with USW, IAS employees were hand selected to deploy their technology in Seattle, Oakland, and San Francisco.
In addition, IAS provided LAN design, maintenance, and operation for US Wireless Corporation east coast offices. These services included:
- Account Management
- Client Connectivity
- File Services
- RAS
- WINS/DNS
- Software Deployment/Accounting
- Print Service
- Data Archiving
- E-mail Communications
- Desktop/Server Maintenance
- Configuration Management
These services provided US Wireless with a very rapidly deployable wireless network that is not only stable, but as reliable as a traditional hard-line network. IAS has also involved in an ongoing nationwide deployment of a frame-relay into ATM network that will further support their products capabilities.
Program and Project Management
US Wireless required a multi-faceted approach to project management. Our skill in effectively managing a wide range of projects ensured that their contractual obligations, from leasing to deadlines, were always met with prepared success. IAS provided project management for each of US Wireless's three east coast programs in Baltimore, Washington D.C. and Virginia numbering over 27 remote site locations. A few of the responsibilities involved with these programs include the management of several subcontracting companies, ensuring the availability of required resources, and the numerous staffing responsibilities for various technical positions spread over the separate projects. Moreover, we were able to direct the scheduling and delivery of services and deliverables efficiently, while providing up to the minute status and financial tracking on each of the projects.
