U.S. Marine Corps, Promotion Branch Host Automation System (HAS)
The HAS development effort focuses on a web-based application for the Marine Corps Promotion Branch in order to automate manual data entry into a host (mainframe) application to update Marine Corps personnel information. Development and support activities include requirement analysis, system design, interface design, software development, system testing, Government acceptance testing assistance, implementation, and end-user support. The previous process involved an administrative clerk receiving a printed listing of several hundred or thousand names, Social Security Numbers, and promotion dates. The clerk would then manually key into a host application the data for each Marine. This process would normally take three to five days per list. Numerous promotion listings are entered each month. The HAS application automated this data entry and reduced the time from days to minutes or hours.
